British School (early 19th Century) – Mrs John Brett with Her Two Children

Out of stock

Framed watercolour with white highlights painted on thick card. This charming miniature painting is relatively large and quite ambitious in composition. On the back of the frame is an Inscription written in pen and brown ink on an old sheet of paper.

Description

The inscription reads: Mrs. John Brett and her two eldest children, Elizabeth and Agnes. Elizabeth was born on the 31 December 1800. Married to Capt James Anderson on the 5th Dec 1825 and died on the 31st January 1845, (signed) – J Anderson.

This picture is related to another family portrait depicting James Brett, and is available on our website under the title: “James Brett holding a riding crop”.
