Description

The scene of an ancient, fortified harbour appears to date from the time of the Kingdom of Italy (Napoleonic) period, around 1805-1814. The vessel (Galley) on the left of the picture has three cannon protruding from the front of the ship. Beyond the moored ships at the mouth of the harbour are a row of houses with hills in the distance. The location has not been identified but it has been suggested a possible match might be the ancient post of Cassone, near the small town of Malcesine (Garda Lake).
