The adult barn owl (Tyto alba) is perched on a mossy tree branch alongside chicks in a hollow nest. Signed and dated ‘Harry Bright 1883; pencil and watercolour heightened with white. Housed within a new mount in its original gilded frame.

Harry Bright (1846-1895) was highly celebrated in the late 19th century for his incredibly lifelike, detailed depictions of birds and their natural habitats.
