British School (18th century) – Mother and Child

This watercolour by an unknown artist is a sketch and is in our estimation by a professional hand much like artists of the period such as Thomas Rowlandson or John Downman. Executed in pencil with monochrome and colour washes on thin buff laid paper. The paper is crinkled in a couple of areas and there is a horizontal crease running across the breast of the mother.
