Unknown Artist (British, late 18th Century) – Portrait of a Gentleman

Fine watercolour on ivory, portrait miniature of a gentleman with fair hair wearing a dark blue coat with prominent lapels and dark-toned buttons, paired with an elaborate pleated or tied white cravat. The subject is depicted in bust length with a neutral, brown textured background characteristic of British and European portrait miniatures of the late 18th and early 19th century; unsigned (British, circa 1790). The portrait is housed in its original papier-mâché frame with convex glass and a starburst hanger.
