Symbolist School (c.1900) – The Trap

Out of stock

Etching; indistinctly signed in pencil (lower right). Mounted.

Description

Look carefully and you will find three naked young women hiding among the birch trees. The women are holding the ends of wire traps which have been laid along the path, perhaps in waiting for, “a lonely man”.

The subject of the etching is similar to the work of Max Klinger, however, the signature is difficult to read and the artist remains unidentified.
