Edith Adie was one of a small group of Victorian artists who specialised in painting buildings and gardens during the latter half of the nineteenth century and this is a fine example of her work. She studied at South Kensington and the Slade. Exhibited at the RA 1893-1912 (4). SS, NWS and elsewhere. Lived in London but later in Sevenoaks, Kent, and taught art in Italy.
