Nicholas Assheton was educated at Eton and Christ Church Oxford and served in the Life Guards. He went into banking and was Deputy Chairman of Coutts Bank, he became treasurer and extra equerry to H. M. Queen Mother. In 1960 he married Jacqueline Harris at Westminster Abbey, (daughter of Arthur Harris, Marshal of the RAF. / Bomber Harris).
The eldest daughter Caroline (top left) is a successful artist. Mary is passionate about horses and lives in Ireland.
Most drawings including designs and sketches by John Sergeant had until 2017 been stored in his studio at his home in Wales. On the whole, most of his loose paperwork has been kept in excellent condition and has now been conserved and protected in clear polyester pockets or sleeves. A gallery label will accompany each item listing any relevant details including provenance.
